10 a.m.–12 p.m.

Overview

The Governor's Autism Council was appointed to advise the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) on strategies for implementing statewide supports and services for children with autism and their families.

The council specifically addresses some of the important issues identified below:

  • Early diagnosis and intervention
  • Transitions
  • Family coordination and navigation of systems and services
  • Best practices for interventions and service provision

Wisconsin START Initiative

In 2022, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) contracted with the National Center for START Services to evaluate the state’s service system for people who have intellectual and developmental disabilities and mental health needs. Called the START Scan (PDF), this evaluation helped us learn how effective services and supports are for people who have intellectual and developmental disabilities and mental health needs in Wisconsin.

The START Scan will drive our next steps to make improvements. We need your help to analyze and address the START Scan's findings in Wisconsin. Visit our webpage to learn more and see how to get involved.
