What is a birth count?

The birth count is the number of live births for a specified period of time and specific geographic area.

What is the birth rate?

The birth rate is the number of live births per 1,000 people.

What is a singleton birth?

A singleton birth is a pregnancy resulting in the birth of one child (that is, not twins, triplets, etc.).  Total births include singleton births and multiple births (twins, triplets, etc.).
