Wisconsin Violent Death Reporting System: Demographics–Death Rates
The dashboard on this page provides demographic information on all manners of violent deaths in Wisconsin from 2012-2022. Violent deaths include deaths by suicide, homicide, unintentional firearm (victim was shot by accident), legal intervention (caused by law enforcement acting in the line of duty), and undetermined intent deaths that appear violent in nature. You can view violent death rates by county, sex, race, age, ethnicity, as well as other groupings of interest.
The rates are calculated by dividing the number of resident deaths per year by the population. It is usually expressed as the number per 100,000 residents.
When making comparisons between populations, it is recommended to use the rates instead of count as rates account for differences in population size and age composition.
