The dashboard on this page provides a statewide overview of the total number of violent deaths in Wisconsin from 2012-2022. Yearly information on the manner of death — suicide, homicide, unintentional firearm (victim was shot by accident), legal intervention (caused by law enforcement acting in the line of duty), and undetermined intent deaths that appear violent in nature — is also included.

The data is presented in counts and age-adjusted rates by year. Age-adjusted rates are recommended when making comparisons between two different years as they account for differences in age composition across populations and time.
