About the Lead and Asbestos Section

The Lead and Asbestos Section of the Bureau of Environmental and Occupational Health, Division of Public Health, administers asbestos and lead training course accreditation and certification programs for the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) under provisions of Ch. 254, Wis. Stats. (PDF, 443 KB).  In addition to issuing certification cards and accrediting training provider courses for regulated asbestos and lead activities and investigations, the program establishes and monitors standards for conducting investigation, abatement and renovation activities.  The Section also administers the Lead-Free/Lead-Safe Registry, which records properties inspected and certified as meeting the standards for lead-free or lead-safe status.
