Positive recovery outcomes are more likely when people with mental health and substance use challenges talk with someone who has firsthand recovery experience.
Supporting mental health and substance use recovery through connection
At peer recovery centers, adults from the community, who are living in recovery from mental health and substance use challenges, serve as a resource for adults with similar life experiences who are struggling to find or sustain recovery. There are opportunities in a safe, comforting, and judgment free space for one-on-one connections and group activities focused on education, information sharing, skill-building, and socialization. There are no required activities for guests. Guests can choose when to visit during open hours and what to do during their visit. No appointment is necessary. There is no cost to visit.
Each peer recovery center is managed by a group of individuals with lived experience of mental health and/or substance use recovery. Hours of operation vary.
