Summer EBT: Who Automatically Qualifies
Children can qualify for Summer EBT if they have an approved application to get free or reduced price meals at their National School Lunch Program (NSLP) school for the 2024-2025 school year. Families will need to contact their child’s school to confirm if it participates in the NSLP.
A child may also qualify if their household was in a qualifying program any time during the 2024-2025 school year or 2025 summer. The qualifying programs are:
- FoodShare
- Wisconsin Works (W-2)
- The Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR)
- Certain income-based Medicaid programs (See Medicaid in Wisconsin: A-Z, P-02383)
If a child did not go to an NSLP school and their household was in one of the qualifying programs, they must be school-aged to qualify. Children are school-aged if they were born on or between July 1, 2006, and August 31, 2019.
If a child does not currently qualify, there are actions their families can take to see if they can still qualify for Summer EBT this year.
If your child qualifies, learn how to use the benefits.
