WisTech Assistive Technology Credentials

WisTech, under direction of the Statewide Assistive Technology Advisory Council, has developed assistive technology (AT) coursework for providers in Wisconsin to become WisTech AT certified and ATP (assistive technology professional) verified. These certifications build and recognize the experience and knowledge needed to provide high-quality, consumer-driven, and comprehensive AT services.

WisTech offers AT credentials depending on the provider's background experience:

  • WisTech Verified ATP
  • WisTech AT Certified

The curriculum for the credentials will be hosted online through Canvas, an online learning management system and access to the internet and a computer are requirements.

Applications are being accepted for enrollment in the WisTech AT Certification and the WisTech Verified ATP courses. Please complete the AT Credential Application Form if you are interested in taking either of the courses. Enrollment is limited to allow for cohorts to engage with each other. An application does not require payment for a course until time of enrollment. Course enrollment options at this time are:

  • July 7-October 4, 2025
  • September 22-December 19, 2025
  • January 12-April 10, 2026
  • March 30-June 26, 2026

Once certified, renewals will be required every two years along with the submission of the required continuing education units (CEUs) related to assistive technology. Renewal cost is $50 every two years.

WisTech AT certification

This certification is for those providers who are expanding their knowledge in the areas of AT, assessments, and service delivery. The WisTech AT certification course consists of 12 weekly learning modules, discussion posts, self-knowledge checks, AT product reviews, and a case study report writing activity. This credential will be valid for two years and renewable with submission of ongoing professional development in the area of assistive technology. This curriculum will also benefit service providers who are interested in pursuing the ATP certification from the Rehabilitation Engineers Society of North America (RESNA) in the future.

The AT credential course registration cost is $500. Renewals will incur a fee of $50 every two years along with documentation of 2.0 hours of CEU professional development related to assistive technology.

WisTech Verified ATP

This certification is for those providers who hold the ATP international certification from RESNA. The WisTech ATP verification course consists of three learning modules and a self-knowledge check. It also aligns with the renewal date of the provider's existing RESNA ATP certification. Future versions for other national certifications will be made available.

This course is available at no cost for those holding a current RESNA ATP Credential. Renewals will incur a fee of $50 every two years along with documentation of current ATP status.
