Medicaid: 2026 Announcement for Wisconsin’s Non-Emergency Medical Transportation Vendor

On May 21, 2026, the Department of Health Services (DHS) announced the “notice of intent” to select Verida, Inc. as the new non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) vendor for the Wisconsin Medicaid NEMT program.

The NEMT vendor schedules transportation for members who need to get to medical appointments. They serve as the go-between for members and transportation providers. Members can also receive gas mileage reimbursement through the NEMT vendor.

Why is DHS seeking a new vendor for NEMT services?

Wisconsin state law requires DHS to procure vendors on a regularly scheduled basis. The procurement process is an opportunity for DHS to continue to improve the program and provide quality controls.

How Wisconsin Medicaid chose Verida, Inc.

Wisconsin uses a fair and competitive review process to select vendors. Verida, Inc. had the highest-scoring proposal among all of the vendors who submitted to provide these services under the request for proposal (RFP) S-1699 DMS-25.
