Medicaid: Promoting Interoperability
Wisconsin Medicaid has implemented a Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) standards-based solution to store, share, and retrieve Patient Access and Provider Directory Application Programming Interface (API) data. This solution will allow Medicaid members to have access to clinical data, claims and other health data via third-party applications.
This information is provided in accordance with federal requirements and the Patient Access and Interoperability final rule (CMS-9115-F).
For developers
Wisconsin currently uses Abacus Insights to support interoperability solutions. Application developers will need to visit Abacus Insights Interoperability Developer Portal to register their application.
The Interoperability Developer Portal is a shared support portal available to all application developers using the solution. Developers can use the self-service portal to:
- Test their application against sample APIs to ensure access and processing capabilities
- Validate performance against the standards outlined in the portal
- Validate the various API types against the application capabilities
- Access resources including implementation guides and documentation associated with creation, management, and support of the standard FHIR APIs
- Find contact information for follow-up questions
Developer support
Developers seeking support should review the Abacus Insights Interoperability Developer Portal Documentation, which includes getting started information and FAQs.
