MyWisconsin ID lets Wisconsinites sign in to many state websites and applications with one username and password.
Using a MyWisconsin ID improves account security. It also makes it easier to access state websites and applications because you only need to remember one username and password. That means you can use the same login information to access a multitude of DHS applications.
State websites and applications are beginning to use MyWisconsin ID over the next few years.

Yes, you need to register for a MyWisconsin ID if you use one of the applications listed in the “What applications currently use MyWisconsin ID?” accordion on this webpage to continue accessing those applications. You are not automatically registered with MyWisconsin ID.

SSO stands for “single sign-on.” It means someone can sign in once and use multiple applications without signing in again. MyWisconsin ID is a single sign-on account platform.
MFA stands for “multifactor authentication.” It is an added measure to secure your account by verifying your identity in two steps. For example, a username and password as well as a security code texted to your phone.
MyWisconsin ID uses MFA to verify your identity in two steps:
- Sign into your MyWisconsin ID account using your username and password.
- Verify your sign-in attempt by text or using an authenticator like Okta Verify or Google Authenticator.
These two steps help keep your account and information secure.

Upon creating a MyWisconsin ID, an account activation email is sent to the email that was used to register. This serves as confirmation of your MyWisconsin ID.
Your password
Follow the password requirements on the screen when you create your account. Your password should not include your username or your first or last name. Do not reuse passwords.

Multi-factor authentication instructions
Setting up multiple MFA methods for MyWisconsin ID enables you to log in if you lose access to one of your authentication methods. Examples might be that you lose the phone you have a Phone MFA set up on or forget answers to one authentication method.
Approved MFA methods for MyWisconsin ID depend on your organization. Talk to your organization about which MFA methods are approved to use.
