Exploration Worksheet 3: Guided Decision-Making

This is one of three exploration worksheets from the Peer Professional Employer Toolkit.

Instructions: The exploration phase culminates in an informed decision by the team. Review the summary of learning worksheet and considerations of needs, fit, and capacity worksheet. Then, print and use this worksheet to identify reasons for and against moving forward (Arbuckle et al., 2020), discuss, and decide.

Reasons to move forward:
Write your reasons to move forward with peer recovery support services (consider scope of practice, benefits, evidence, needs, and fit).

Reasons to not move forward:
Write your reasons to not move forward with peer recovery support services (consider limits, lack of fit, and organization capacity).

Discuss:

  • Given the reasons for and the reasons against adopting peer recovery support services, where does this decisional balance leave us?
  • What further information may be needed to make an informed decision?
  • What further discussions might be useful to have and with whom?

Decide:

  • We are moving forward based on a clear decision.
  • We may be moving forward but need more information and discussion.
  • We are not moving forward and recognize that strategic abandonment is an acceptable outcome of exploration.
