About accreditation
Accreditation means the HMOs meet certain requirements related to health care quality. The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) requires all HMOs to have two accreditations from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA):
- Health Plan Accreditation
- Health Outcomes Accreditation, formerly Health Equity Accreditation
HMOs can also pursue an accreditation DHS does not require—the Community-Focused Care Accreditation, formerly Health Equity Accreditation Plus.
