The following provides information on the procedure to be used by certified community mental health and certified substance abuse treatment providers to request a waiver or variance of Wisconsin administrative code.
Definitions
- A waiver, if granted, allows the certified program an exemption from the specified regulatory requirement(s).
- A variance, if granted, allows the certified program to request permission to meet the regulations in a manner different than stipulated by the rule.
Submit a request

Provider requests will only be accepted on the Waiver or Variance Request - Community Mental Health and Substance Abuse Programs, F-60289 (Word) . You must indicate on the application form the specific code or rule for which the waiver or variance is requested, for example: DHS 34.23(5)(a), DHS 63.06(4)(a), or DHS 75.15(9)(b)6.
