Home Health Agencies

Home health agencies (HHAs) are organizations that provide skilled nursing and other therapeutic services. HHAs provide these services in patients’ homes.

Skilled care includes services such as:

  • Wound care for open, infected, or complex wounds.
  • Urinary catheterization.
  • Teaching safe use of assistive devices.
  • Transfer techniques.
  • Gait training.
  • Medication management.

HHAs are different than services provided by Personal Care Agencies (PCAs), which include:

  • Help with activities of daily living.
  • Housekeeping tasks.
  • Accompanying clients to medical appointments.
