EMS: Renewal Requirements for 2023–2026 Licensure Cycle

2023–2026 EMS Renewal is now open

All EMS providers have been notified via the email address listed within their own E-License account when the 2023-2026 renewal form was released in E-Licensing portal. (opens external link) If you did not receive a notice, please make sure your email is up to date in E-Licensing.

The 2023–2026 renewal applications are now available. If you hold an Emergency Medical Responder certificate or emergency medical services practitioner license that will expire on June 30, 2023 a notification email was sent to the email address listed in your E-Licensing (opens external link) account when the renewal applications were released. Renewal applications can only be used to renew your current EMS certificate or license. You cannot upgrade or downgrade your current certification or licensure level using a renewal application.

To be eligible for renewal of your current certificate or license, you must meet the requirements of Wis. Admin. Code § DHS 110.07. (opens external link) Based on Emergency Order #21, (opens external link) the 2023–2026 certification or licensure triennium is from October 1, 2020 through June 30, 2023. To successfully renew your certificate or license you will need to complete all requirements and application processes by the end of June 30, 2023. You will need to provide documentation as part of the application process.

If you do not complete the renewal requirements of Wis. Admin. Code § DHS 110.07 (opens external link) by June 30, 2023, and you want to obtain current certification or licensure, you will need to meet the requirements of Wis. Admin. Code § DHS 110.09. (opens external link)

Please make sure that you can access your E-Licensing (opens external link) account in the Wisconsin E-Licensing system. Code § DHS 110.13(4) (opens external link) states “An EMS professional shall notify the department of any change in his or her name, address, or other information kept by the department within 30 days of the change, using the department's electronic licensing system or, at the department's request, submitting updated information to the department in paper form.” You can update your U.S. mailing address and other contact information in your EMS account profile.
